QR Smart Pet ID Tag — Data Practices
This section applies specifically to data collected in connection with the Dogsy & Co QR Smart Pet ID Tag system.
Pet Profile Data (Tag Owners)
When you purchase and activate a QR Smart Pet ID Tag, you may create an online pet profile containing information such as your pet's name, breed, age, photo, medical notes, and your contact details. By creating a pet profile, you acknowledge and consent to the following:
- The information you enter into the pet profile will be publicly accessible to anyone who scans the QR code on your pet's tag. No login or authentication is required for a scanner to view this information.
- You are voluntarily choosing to make this information public for the purpose of pet identification and recovery.
- You should only include information you are comfortable being publicly visible to any person who scans the tag.
- Dogsy & Co is not responsible for how any third party uses, copies, screenshots, or distributes information obtained by scanning your pet's tag.
- You may update or remove your pet profile information at any time by logging into your account on our website.
Scanner Data (People Who Scan a Tag)
When a person scans a QR Smart Pet ID Tag, the following may occur:
- The scanner may view the pet's publicly accessible profile information without providing any personal data.
- If the scanner chooses to use the "Alert Owner" feature, they will be asked for explicit consent to share their GPS location. Location sharing is entirely voluntary.
- If consent is given, the scanner's GPS coordinates and any optional message they provide will be transmitted to the pet owner via email. This location data is used solely for the purpose of that one-time scan alert.
- We do not permanently store scanner location data on our servers. Location data is transmitted to the pet owner and to our email delivery service for the purpose of sending the notification.
- We may retain anonymised scan event data (such as the date and time a tag was scanned) for analytics and service improvement purposes.
Data Retention for QR Tag Data
-
Pet profile data is retained for as long as you maintain an account with us, or until you delete the information. We may also delete pet profile data if we discontinue the QR Functionality.
-
Scanner location data is transmitted in real time via email and is not permanently stored on our servers.
-
Scan event logs may be retained for a reasonable period for analytics and troubleshooting purposes.
