π₯ Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups wholemeal flour
- 1/2 cup cooked chicken, finely minced
- 1/2 teaspoon activated charcoal powder (food grade)
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons chicken broth (no onion/garlic)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
π©βπ³ Instructions
- Preheat oven to 160Β°C (320Β°F).
- Mix flour and activated charcoal powder in a bowl β the dough will be dark grey/black.
- Add minced chicken and mix through.
- Beat egg with chicken broth and coconut oil, then add to dry ingredients.
- Mix until a firm dough forms, adding a splash more broth if too dry.
- Roll into stick shapes about 8cm long and 1.5cm thick.
- Twist each stick for a fun spiral shape that helps clean between teeth.
- Bake for 35 minutes until very hard.
- Cool completely on a wire rack.

Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks, or refrigerate for up to 3 weeks.

Activated charcoal can help absorb bacteria and toxins in the mouth. Chicken provides lean protein. Coconut oil has natural antibacterial properties. The hard, twisted texture provides excellent mechanical cleaning action.
π‘ Tips
- Use only food-grade activated charcoal β never BBQ charcoal
- These will be very dark/black β that's normal!
- The twisted shape helps reach between teeth during chewing
- Give at least 30 minutes after meals before offering dental treats
