Senior Chicken & Joint Support Stew

Senior Chicken & Joint Support Stew

As dogs age, their joints need extra TLC. This warming chicken stew is loaded with natural joint-supporting ingredients — bone broth for collagen and glucosamine, turmeric for anti-inflammatory benefits, and fish oil for omega-3s. The soft, stew-like consistency is easy for older dogs to eat, especially those with dental issues. It's comfort food with a therapeutic purpose, and senior dogs absolutely love it.

Nutrition Notes

Bone broth is rich in naturally occurring glucosamine, chondroitin, and collagen — all crucial for joint health. Turmeric contains curcumin, a powerful anti-inflammatory compound. Ginger also has anti-inflammatory properties. Fish oil provides EPA and DHA omega-3s that reduce joint inflammation. Sweet potato and pumpkin provide easily digestible energy and fibre for aging digestive systems.

Tips

  • Bone broth is the star ingredient here — homemade is best but store-bought low-sodium works too.
  • Turmeric is better absorbed with fat and black pepper — the coconut oil helps absorption.
  • Cook vegetables until very soft for senior dogs with dental issues.
  • This stew can be blended for dogs that have difficulty chewing.
  • Serve slightly warm — senior dogs often prefer warm food.
