Pork & Apple Harvest Bowl

Pork & Apple Harvest Bowl

This autumnal-inspired pork and apple bowl is a delightful combination of savoury and naturally sweet flavours. Pork is an underused protein in homemade dog food but it's highly nutritious and most dogs love it. The addition of apple brings natural sweetness, fibre, and vitamin C, while the oats provide slow-release energy. This is a wonderfully warming meal that's a bit different from the usual chicken or beef.

Nutrition Notes

Pork is rich in B vitamins (especially thiamine), zinc, and selenium. Apples provide fibre, vitamin C, and natural sweetness without added sugar. Oats are a great source of soluble fibre that supports digestive health. Cinnamon has natural anti-inflammatory and blood sugar regulating properties and is safe for dogs in small amounts.

Tips

  • Always remove apple seeds and core — apple seeds contain small amounts of cyanide.
  • Use lean pork loin rather than fattier cuts.
  • Cinnamon should be used sparingly — a little goes a long way.
  • This meal works nicely as part of a protein rotation schedule alongside chicken and beef recipes.
