The breed is named after a famous foundation bitch called Kelpie, who won the first sheep dog trial in Australia in 1872. Appearance

Australian Kelpies are medium-sized, athletic dogs with a lean, muscular build designed for endurance and agility. Early socialisation is important to ensure a well-rounded temperament. They can be trained to an exceptional level in obedience, herding, agility, and various working roles. Grooming & Care

The Kelpie's short, dense coat is low-maintenance. Weekly brushing removes loose hair and keeps the coat healthy. They shed moderately year-round with heavier shedding seasonally.
